He’s smiling again!! 🥳
This morning Dr. Liu was concerned by the amount of – we’ll call it “stuff” – the NG tube had pulled out of his stomach overnight, so he asked the nurse to stop the suction on the NG tube for 4 hours and then check the amount of output once it was plugged back in. I also asked Dr. Liu to give me a rough idea of a discharge date so I could coordinate with my hotel, and he said he couldn’t give me one. He suggested I go home for a few days because Chris would be fine here on his own. I refused.
But, what do you know?! When the NG tube was plugged back in, barely anything came out of his stomach, and what did was clear – much different than what we’ve seen it pull out over the past several days.
So here we are… Chris is down to just one IV with a potassium water drip. No pulse ox, no oxygen, no O2 sensor, no NG tube, no catheter, no epidural. It’s no wonder he feels so free ❤️
Regarding liquids and solids, they are going to start him off VERY slowly. He’ll have to continue with small sips of water and ice chips for the rest of the day today, tomorrow will be clear liquids, and then depending on how he does, they will either keep him on the clear liquid diet or move him up to specific soft foods.
I can’t help but think how bad things were just a few days ago, and how thankful Chris and I are to be on the other side of that nightmare.
Thank you all for your comments, love, prayers, thoughts, etc. We are undoubtedly surrounded by the best community in the world!
Bear hugs! 🐻❤️
There is no question in my mind that love heals and you are doing so well because you give so much and you have so much. I send mine again. BIG love and delight for this progress. xoxo

I too am breathing a huge sigh of relief. What a nightmare is right but the hardest part is in the rear view mirror. Maybe
Now you can both just rest a bit easier. Stay strong, Karen

So, so happy that Chris is smiling again. And I am picturing your smile, too, Jenny, as you see his improvement. Praying for continued daily steps toward going home. Hugs to both of you!!
